Think you’ve “done” the British Virgin Islands? White Bay, The Baths, Soggy Dollar, a few snorkel stops…
But here’s the real question:
How many of these off the beaten path BVI spots have you actually experienced?
Not driven past. Not heard about. Actually been to.
Because the more you explore the BVI, the more you realize how much more there is to see.
And depending on your score below … you might just be due for another day on the water.
Your Off the Beaten Path BVI Spots Checklist
Keep track as you go – no judgment… well, maybe a little.
Jost Van Dyke / Little Jost
🌮 Foxy's Taboo
Delicious food and cold drinks right next to the iconic Jost Van Dyke sign and where you start the hike to the Bubbly Pool. Chill, casual, and always a solid stop between adventures.
✔ Did you stop for lunch here?

🌴 Bubbly Pool
A natural ocean jacuzzi tucked into the rocks. When a north swell rolls in, waves crash through and turn it into a foamy, bubbling pool. On calm days? Still beautiful – but the magic waits for the right conditions.
✔ Have you seen it “bubbling”?

🏝 Sandy Spit
A tiny, postcard-perfect island that you can only reach by boat – and exactly the kind of stop that makes a BVI charter feel unreal. No bars, no crowds, just soft white sand and 360° turquoise water. Blink and you might miss it… but you’ll definitely remember it.
✔ Have you made it here yet?

🍽 Sydney’s Peace and Love
Famous for lobster lunch, laid-back island vibes, and the best part – you get to be your own bartender.
✔ Did you mix your own drink?

🍻 Bee Line
Tiny island, ice-cold drinks, and serious hidden-gem energy. Bee Line feels like the kind of place you only hear about from someone who’s been coming to the BVI for years. If you’ve made it out to Little Jost, your BVI score is climbing fast.
✔ Have you checked this one off?

Tortola
🏝 Smuggler’s Cove
One of Tortola’s most beautiful hidden beaches with soft sand, calm water, and a completely laid-back vibe. Grab lunch from Patricia’s straight off the grill and just settle in.
✔ Beach day perfection?

🏖 Cane Garden Bay
Famous for a reason, Cane Garden Bay is one of Tortola’s signature beaches and home to the “I ❤️ BVI” sign. But the experience depends entirely on timing. Visit on a quiet day and you’ll find a wide, calm bay with soft sand, clear water, and a laid-back island rhythm that feels worlds away from the busy, cruise ship days.
✔ Did you catch it on a good day?

🍹 Callwood Rum Distillery
One of the oldest rum distilleries in the BVI, this family-run stop across from Cane Garden Bay offers a quick look at traditional, small-batch Caribbean rum making. Walk through the rustic working space, sample local rum, and experience a true piece of island history just steps from the beach.
✔ Did you try the local rum?

Virgin Gorda / North Sound
🏝 Marina Cay
A tiny, picture-perfect island stop – best enjoyed for lunch or a drink while cruising between Tortola and Virgin Gorda.
✔ Did you stop here… or cruise right past it?

🌊 Savannah Bay
Wide open, quiet, white sand, and almost always peaceful (except for Christmas in July, if you know, you know). This is the “slow down and disappear for a while” beach.
✔ Did you stay long enough to lose track of time?

🍹 Saba Rock
Iconic red phone booth on the dock, incredible lunch stop, and one of the most scenic spots in the North Sound.
✔ Did you grab lunch here?

🌅 Oil Nut Bay
Luxury meets seclusion at the far edge of Virgin Gorda. Weather dependent and remote, but absolutely stunning when you make it out.
✔ Have you made it this far east?

Next-Level BVI Stops
🐒 Necker Island
A rare experience requiring advance booking with Gumption of Sea It Clear Tours and good weather. Expect flamingos, scarlet ibis, lemurs, and a tour of one of the most famous private islands in the world. Travel with Blue Water Charters to the BVI and connect with Gumption in the North Sound or Necker Island, where your guided private tour begins.
✔ Have you actually stepped foot here?

✈️ Shark Planes (Great Dog)
Three aircraft transformed into shark sculptures and sunk in 30–35 feet of water after Hurricane Irma. This one is all about visibility and skill – this site is better for freedivers when conditions are right. This is the most off-the-radar stop here – so if you’ve already checked it off, we’ve got one question… do you live here?
✔ Have you seen the shark planes underwater?

Your Score – Be Honest
Now tally it up:
0-4 stops: You NEED another charter ASAP
5-9 stops: Okay… I see you 👀 you’ve been exploring
10+ stops: Respect. You’ve officially done the BVI (but there’s still more)
Why Most People Miss These Spots
Here’s the thing – these aren’t hidden because they’re secret.
They’re “missed” because:
Ferries don’t connect them efficiently
Taxis eat up half your day
Group tours skip or rush them
Most first-time (and even second or third) trips focus on the big, well-known BVI highlights before discovering what’s just beyond them
And most itineraries only scratch the surface
With a private charter, you can slow down, expand your horizons, and explore beyond the big destinations. And if you still really, really want to go back to The Soggy Dollar Bar again and again – you absolutely can. That’s the beauty of it. You can build your day around your favorite places, then mix in a few new off the beaten path BVI spots every time you head out.
That’s the difference.
So… What Did You Score?

Be honest – no exaggerating your BVI résumé 😉
And even better…
Did we miss one of your favorite spots?

Because in the British Virgin Islands, there’s always another bay, another swim stop, another lunch spot waiting for the next trip out.
And we’d love to take you there.
